Welcome to Home Shalom!

Welcome to Home Shalom and Shalom Farm. We pray your visit here be blessed. We are learning to walk in the Ways (Torah) of our Father YHWH and follow Y'shua, His Messiah until He returns to "set things straight". We call it a "Messi-Life". Our walk is neither tidy nor perfect, but it is filled with passion, devotion and desire to serve our King. We are learning to be humble servants, and to be good stewards of the things that He has entrusted to us: His Word, our marriage, our children, our family, our community, our health, and our farm. Hitch your horse and stay a while--our door is always open!

Homemade Cleaners We Use

Wood and Furniture Cleaner
1C Vinegar (cheap white or apple)
1/8C Oil (olive, jojoba or food grade linseed)
few drops of lemon essential oil

* May sub lemon juice for vinegar
(I used to use this on my marble counter tops at previous house too.)

--- OR ---

10 drops of lemon essential oil
2T lemon juice
4-5 drops of olive oil

-----------------------------------
Rosemary Cleaner (All Purpose Cleaner)
1C dried Rosemary
1Qrt of Rubbing Alcohol(isopropyl alcohol)

Put together in a glass jar, ideally in a warm place for about 6 weeks. Strain out the rosemary and put in a spray bottle.

This is is especially nice for disinfecting and counters.

-----------------------------------------
Heavy Duty Spray
Great for mold and mildew. Also makes a very good degreaser and is disinfecting. Good for bathrooms and kitchens.

1Qrt White Vinegar
1C dry Thyme

Shake and steep in a warm place for 24 hours.
Strain out the herbs and pour into a spray bottle.

Add:
1/2 tsp thyme essential oil
1/2 tsp lavender essential oil

Shake vigorously before each use.

----------------------------------------
Natural Scrub
I call this my "Natural Comet". When I was growing up my mom always had one of the green cardboard cans under the counter of white scouring powder. I have no idea what it was, but it worked. We used it to scrub sinks and the tub and any stubborn stains on the smooth floors (not wood) and glass. This works the same, but I know whats in it and mine is in a glass jar with a white plastic lid. :-)

In a quart jar add:
1/2 C Baking Soda
1/2 C Borax
1/4 C Salt

In a small separate bowl mix together:

1/2 tsp clear alcohol (any kind - rubbing alcohol, vodka, gin, grain, etc.)
1/2 tsp juniper essential oil or tea tree essential oil

Put the lid on and shake really well. To use just sprinkle a little powder onto a surface and scrub with a damp or wet cloth.
--------------------------------------
Window Cleaner

1 cup rubbing alcohol
1 cup water
1 tablespoon vinegar

Pour into spray bottle and shake.
-------------------------------------
Orange Cleaner

I almost forgot this one, because I haven't put it in my book yet. I bottled it up a couple weeks ago - it works nicely! I got the recipe form this post at Penniless Parenting
