Welcome to Home Shalom!

Welcome to Home Shalom and Shalom Farm. We pray your visit here be blessed. We are learning to walk in the Ways (Torah) of our Father YHWH and follow Y'shua, His Messiah until He returns to "set things straight". We call it a "Messi-Life". Our walk is neither tidy nor perfect, but it is filled with passion, devotion and desire to serve our King. We are learning to be humble servants, and to be good stewards of the things that He has entrusted to us: His Word, our marriage, our children, our family, our community, our health, and our farm. Hitch your horse and stay a while--our door is always open!

Tribes of Israel Game

I have had the privalage to meet and now walk with a wonderful family who recently moved here last year,  The Groat Family (see picture below).  They are passionate for The Creator, His Word, His Kingdom and for The Land of Israel. They serve the farmer's there every opportunity they get, in the spring and the fall!  They have adjusted their whole lifestyle to be able to go for weeks/months at a time to volunteer there.  They live on a small farm here and live a simple debt free life so that they may be free to minister.  They created this family game from scratch in the hopes that it would help them raise money to serve in Israel.  (The plane tickets and accomidations are not inexpensive, the commitments back home also need to be accounted for, but they are very creative and committed to see it through!)  It is their goal that all three be able to go to Israel to serve this fall.

I asked The Groat Family to answer a couple questions for our readers.
This is our little interview is below.

What inspired you to make Twelve Tribes Of Israel?
We were inspired to make The Tribes of Israel game about 12 years ago
after finding out we are part of Israel*.  We learned our identity by
studying Scripture with another family the Father put into our lives.  Prior
to that time, we were not very familiar with the Tanach (Old Testament), so we thought
making the game would help us become more familiar.

What was involved with making your own board game?
To make the first game, it took many hours of work to get the city
names, cards and ideas together.  Each game is made by hand
individually, so it takes several hours for each one.

Tell us a little bit more about yourself.
As a family, we were convicted that we needed to become debt free as
soon as possible.  We were living in North Texas, and Ken had a
corporate job that took him away from the family traveling a few days
each week.  While we were making good money as a family (we also had a
few family businesses then), we were not living as our Father wanted us
to.  Part of Ken's job required him to work most Sabbaths.  After Family Week
last year, our Father made it  clear that we were to follow all of His commandments,
including the Sabbath, and He brought us to Middle
Tennessee to be part of the greater community here.  Selling these games
is one way to provide financial support for our family.  Some other
things we're doing is to sell two kinds of chicken sausage, grass-fed
beef jerky, grass-fed beef snack sticks, and we also have a small,
clean-kill (Biblically clean) butcher shop.  Additionally, we offer
organic herbal teas, and a variety of chemical-free cleaning products.
This allows us to work together as a family, and live as our Father
intends.  By living debt free, and Ken leaving his corporate job, we
were blessed with the ability for Autumn (our daughter) and then for Ken to go to
Israel with HaYovel to bless the farmers in Judea & Samaria.  This would
not have been possible if we were living in the bondage of debt and a
corporate job.  We have also been able to spend a lot of time together
as a family, which has been an incredible blessing.

If one feels lead to contribute to their work or to bless Jews settling in the Land by buying some of thier products click here.

They have started a blog to share their experiance.
(I have shared one of Ken's posts here.  It was GOOD!)

What a joy it is to walk with those who fear YHWH and are committed to living for Him and serving Him!

Physical and Spiritual Pruning

A friend of ours writes from the Land of Israel as he volunteers to prune grapes there for the farmers.  I thought his reflections were worth sharing to encourage you all in your parenting as you raise up your children to walk in Yah's ways. Also take heed to how Yah continues to prune us as adults - as mature vines that SHOULD be heavy with fruit!  This is the case when we have gone through MANY seasons of pruning.  So if you see someone who's life is full of fruit - do not think they got there quickly or easily - rather they got there becasue they have allowed the Great Vinedresser to prune them season after season after season!!  Enjoy ~

--------------------------
Shalom from Eretz Yisrael! Peace from The Land of Israel!

As most of you know, the stated  purpose of this trip to Israel is to prune grapevines for the vineyard owners in Judea & Samaria. I'd like to share some experiences I have had pruning...

If a vineyard owner fails to prune his grapevines for even one year, those vines will not produce well at all. It would be irresponsible for a farmer to not prune his vines. In the same way our Father prunes us so we will produce fruit.

Pruning vines reminds me that as parents, we must "prune" our children. One of the vineyard owners told us if the vines do not get pruned, they will grow wild. We have all seen the devastating effects of undisciplined children and adults who have had no boundaries. Proverbs 22:6, "Train up a child in the way he should go, even when he is old he will not depart from it."

Pruning grapevines looks as if you're killing them. It does not kill them, and in fact it strengthens them. Are we any different than grapevines? As God prunes us, we become stronger. Despite how it may seem, the pruning will not harm us, and we will not produce much fruit without Him pruning us. "Do not hold back discipline from the child, although you strike him with the rod, he will not die. You shall strike him with the rod and rescue his soul from Sheol." Proverbs 23:13-14.

Pruning is difficult - on the vines, and on the pruner. It's not an easy thing for the plant to yield itself to the pruner, just as it is sometimes difficult for us to yield ourselves to our Father.

John 15:1-11, "I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit, He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit, He prunes it so that it may bear more fruit. You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me. I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in Me, he is thrown away as a branch and dries up; and they gather them, and cast them into the fire and they are burned. If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be My disciples. Just as the Father has loved Me, I have also loved you; abide in My love. If you will keep My commandments, you will abide in My love; just as I have kept My Father's commandments and abide in His love. These things I have spoken to you so that My joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full."

Different varieties of grapevines must be pruned in different ways. In the same way, it's easy for us to think that God needs to prune our brothers and sisters the same way He prunes us. That's just not the case. We are different varieties, and so we must be pruned differently. "There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the One who is able to save and to destroy; but who are you who judge your neighbor?" James 4:12.

We pruned one morning after it rained through the night. The vines were soft and easier to prune. We need to be soft and moldable so we can be more easily pruned, and so it won't be so painful.

"You have not yet resisted to the point of shedding blood in your striving against sin; and you have forgotten the exhortation which is addressed to you as sons, 'My son, do not regard lightly the discipline of YHVH, nor faint when you are reproved by Him; for those whom  YHVH loves He disciplines, and He scourges every son whom He loves.' It is for discipline that you endure; God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom his father does not discipline? But if you are without discipline, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate children and not sons. Furthermore, we had earthly fathers to discipline us, and we respected them; shall we not much rather be subject to the Father of spirits, and live? For they disciplined us for a short time as seemed best to them, but He disciplines us for our good, so that we may share His holiness. All discipline for the moment seems not to be joyful, but sorrowful; yet to those who have been trained by it, afterwards it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness." Hebrews 12:4-11

May we welcome our Father's pruning in our lives that we may bear much fruit for His Kingdom!

Until next time, check out www.preparationforrestoration.weebly.com. Thank you to those have generously contributed to our mission, and to those of you who are standing with us in prayer.

Many blessings and peace from Israel!

Community, Shopping and Serving

I would like to introduce you to the Jamison Family.

They are new but dear friends.  We met through a devine appointment from Yah (which are always the best becasue they are for His purposes ---which are always the best!  Right?!).  The Jamisons are using thier creativity to raise money so that they may serve the farmers in Israel this fall.  This faithful family wants to bless God's people and His land.  They all could not go, so they are hoping to send 3 representives from their family to volunteer in the vinyards with HaYovel.  Plane tickets, humble meals and lodging for 3 still adds up, so we are hoping others would be willing to help.   Would you consider shopping in their (VERY CUTE) Esty Store to help them raise the funds they need?

A Bushel of Laughter  is a store with precious and practical homemade items for yourself or to give as gifts.  They will custom make things for you - so keep that in mind as you browse!

Aren't these adorable?!!

Sweet and simple cards.

Set of 4 "Praying for You..." Cards - Handmade Encouragement Cards

I have this set.  It is great to take with you for "quiet play".

Fabric Checker Set

You can't tell it by the photo, but these little pot scubbers are made from sratchy material that they crochet together.  They are tough on stuck on food - we really like them.  You can rinse them clean in your wash water or even through them in the laundry.

Crochet Scrubbies - Set of 3

This is my favorite way to make coffee!  You just rinse it clean and let it air dry.  These work as great all purpose strainer for all kinds of kitchen tasks (like dripping whey out of homemade cheese or straining herbs out of my tinctures, vinegars or oils) - so you might want to get more than one!  :-)

Set of Two No.4 Coffee Filters

Sweet Hair Clips

Crochet Hair Flower - Set of 3

Go check them out to see what else they have.  While you browse, think of way you can bless them, the farmers in Israel and whoever uses these items!

Cozy Cloth is another etsy store that they dedicated to women's personal care items.  I can vouch for the comfort, practicality, and quallity these products, as I have used them.  I have made my own and bought several brands over the years and Cozy Cloth is my favorite to date!

Cozy Cloth 10" Moderate Flow Minky Cloth Menstrual Pad - Bumpy Pink

They know that you don't run the stitching through both sides (which encourages leeking). They also know that the shape of the pad make a differnce in the coverage.  They have different sizes and obsorbancy levels to offer.  They are gracious and kind in answering questions as well.
They have also added this really neat feature:  The pads can be folded into a descrete little pack like the store bought ones!  You just fold it over and snap.  You can't even tell what it is!  It is a very discrete way to carry and store the little guys, be it in your purse or drawer.

This next item is what I like to call "the Missing Link" - They call them Wet Bags.  These bags make it so much more discrete and managable to use your cloth away from home! They have thought of every detail.  There are two bags that snap together (very easily) on the four corners.  This creates two seperate compartments that travel as one, which are ideally for a used and unused pads.  They have color coded the zipper at the top (BRILLIANT!) - so you can easily see and rememebr which is which. To wash, you simply turn inside out and toss in the machine or hand wash. The outside is cotton and this inside is waterproof fabric, so the bag is secure from leaks inside your purse.  The fold and snap design of their pads make it easy to tuck your day's supply in the bag without taking up too much space in your purse.  I just LOVE LOVE these bags!

Set of 2 Chevron Wet Bags -Snappable&Zippered     Set of 2 Chevron Wet Bags -Snappable&Zippered

Once you make your initial investment in your set, you are done. No monthly purchasing of disposable products like before.  They are far more healthy to use than the chemical laden products availabe on the market. They are very comfortable and you will never be caught without supplies.  If you use cold water and just hand rinse thoroughly at the time of changing - then throw the in them in wash at the end of each day, they stay fresh and stain free. In some homes where their are more than one lady in the house, they will color code thier supplies to keep them seperate.  While other families will just use them out of a common supply drawer but have their own wet bags.  I feel good knowing my daughters have not and will not have to use chemical filled pads---ever!

Fine art Print from original oil painting

OK, I can't end this post without directing you to meet - The Papa.  He is a very talented artist whose paintings are just beautiful!  You can see Bud's Esty store here.  (He is an amazing husband, father and a treasured friend as well!)

Chazaq Yisrael!

This video is powerful!  A friend thought I would appreciate it, since we have named one of her sons Chazaq Yisrael!  They were right..it was good.  It is preached with the passion and power of the meaning of the word.  It is something we strongly believe and the Father has called us to walk out - as He uses us to be "Strong Encouragers of Israel"..Yah's people!!   He has given us a love for The Land and a desire to return one day, as well.

Chazaq Yisrael Chazaq!. Be strong Israel - Be strong!

Understanding the TRUTH about the West Bank

Friends and Readers,

It is so very important that we educate ourselves on the history of Israel as the current events unfold and we find ourselves needing to take a position. For many of us, "The Bible Is Enough!" to take a position. However, in this last couple of years, we have come to realize how important it is to understand and recognize the corruption and propaganda in our world today regarding Israel, YHVH's Holy Land. Also how important it is that we support Israel not only in prayer but in actions. If we are His people, Israel should matter to us. We believe doing this will help us stand strong and make tough decisions that might need to be made in our future. It will also help us to realize how truly twisted the "face of the world" is and hopefully it will increase our faith and commitment to understand the Scriptures and YHVH's plan for (us) His people, so that we are not deceived. I think we will be posting more informational videos along these lines in the seasons to come. I am not one to embrace politics..as a matter of fact - I (Pamela) personally despise it! However, I have come to realize, that if we ignore it - we (and our children)will pay the price for our ignorance. Those who are against Israel are preying on our ignorance to forward their agenda to destroy Israel. I for one, do not want to help them do that!

Standing with Israel

You can't help but notice...YHVH wants "The Church" to see - THEY ARE ISRAEL...Halleluyah, May HIS people hear His call and may their hearts be turned to Him and His ways. May they be willing to leave behind the things which they THOUGHT THEY KNEW for HIS Truth. May they TURN (Teshuva) to live a life devoted to HIM and set apart for His purposes, so that YHVH and Y'shua may be glorified in the latter days! This speech took place at the CUFI confernce in Washington DC this past week.

We Need Your Recipes! -UPDATED

Our Deadline for this project to submit recipes has been extended to try to meet our goal. We will be taking recipes until JULY 31st. You can not add too many recipes! We need all the help we can get!
GREAT JOB! WE MADE OUR GOAL! THANK YOU SO MUCH TO EVERYONE WHO PARTICIPATED. I WILL BE POSTING SOON ABOUT HOW YOU CAN ORDER YOUR OWN COPY - FOR ZION'S SAKE! :-)

OK Friends, we are trying to put a cookbook together as a fundraiser for HaYovel. (You can see videos about what they do on my blog side bar as well as a couple families who are serving with them in Isreal.) This ministry is run full time by the Waller family and other faithful volunteers. It's focus is serving the Farmers of Israel, by building long term relationships with them and volunteering labor.

Our goal is 800 recipes and our time is short to be able to get a maximum profit yeild out of the cookbooks from a promotion being run. With all you amazing women and super bloggers it will be as easy as cutting and pasting recipes from your own blogs into the publisher's format. No pictures. For you who don't blog but still want to help, you just need to type your recipes into the very easy to use online program.

Our deadline is July 31st and we have less than 300 at the time of this posting. Will you help? There are many catagories, even a homesteading catagories for tinctures, salves, cleaners, canning and other miscellious homesteading style recipes. We would love whole foods and traditional recipes!

I will be sure to let everyone know how they could get one when they are finished, I just know it will be an amazing collection. I am contributing to it and will buy books some for gifts too. It will be so special to have things in this book from YOU!

This is where you go to add your recipes:

http://www.gandrpublishing.com/
user name: Shalom
password: Israel

If this doesn't work for you, you can also e-mail your recipes to Lisa at berachah@dtccom.net

All recipes need to be Biblically clean foods as defined in Leviticus chapter 11 and Deuteronomy chapter 14. The easiest way to remember this is no pork or shelfish/catfish. These are the common unclean foods.

We understand very well that this is a busy season with gardens and such ( iam canning as I type!), but we are hoping that we can pull together in a simple Biblical Family way for the folks whose lives are devoted to ministering to Israel in the name of the Messiah and prepare peoples hearts for His return.

I would love to hear from you in the comments below if you help.

Many Thanks,

I shared this post at Simple Lives Thursdays 53

Big Event - Supporting Isreal in DC

Below is a new letter I just recieved from my friends at HaYovel and I wanted to share it with you in case you feel lead to go. I also hope to encourage those who care to share it with others.

One year ago this month on July 6th we awoke in North Bay, Canada to earth shaking news .....we were on the front page of the New York Times. In an attempt to drag us into the middle of a political firestorm the paper declared this: "HaYovel ...is effectively obstructing the creation of a Palestinian State." (NYT Link) We knew they were working on a story, but we had no idea it would turn into a 5000 word top half - front page story.

What an incredible statement. HaYovel, an organization bringing people to the Heartland of Israel to plant, prune, and harvest vineyards and olive groves, now implicated in "effectively obstructing the creation of a Palestinian state." Much of the article underlined my skepticism of the media and it's ability to report truth, but "effectively obstructing the creation of a Palestinian state" ....well ....that made us feel like "Super Farmers".

You know, "Super Farmers" - farmers able to stand against the will of the "Super Powers" of this world. Ordinary farmers .....NO WAY! Farmers that would never think of showing their strength by leaping over tall buildings. No, farmers that are so incredibly powerful that by simply planting, pruning, and harvesting grapes on the mountains of Israel they have caused the leaders of great nations to cower .....yes cower. I can almost hear it now as the heads of state gather around a long shimmering black table seated in soft leather chairs behind closed doors, "Mr President, what are we going to do about those dang vinedressers working in those vineyards in Judea and Samaria!" ...."We'll never get that land away from the Jews!"

You maybe laughing, like I am, at what I just wrote, but what if it's true? What if we could be, like the New York Times declared ....what if we really are ....."effectively obstructing the creation of a Palestinian state". If we are .....are you ready to join us - ready to lay down everything for the truth of God? (Rm 15:8) Are you ready to lay down a religion that never speaks about, prays for, or works for the "restoration of all things" - the subject of the entire Bible? (Acts 1:6, 3:21) Are you ready to open the Bible and walk in your prophetic destiny?

It is time for all those who claim to be Bible believers to go to their back yards ....uncover the talent buried there and DO SOMETHING with it! (Mt 25:14-30) It ain't okay just to talk about your religion!

This weekend and next week we have another opportunity to DO SOMETHING. This Sunday, the 17th of July, we will be hosting an event at the Silver Spring Jewish Community Center at 1401 Arcola Ave outside of Washington DC. The event will take place at 1:30 in the afternoon. It is an event in which those living in the Heartland of Israel will speak about the place they love and live. I have also been asked to speak at this event.
We also have the opportunity to attend a world class debate by two people - David Ha'ivri and Hussein Ibish - both qualified to debate the conflict over Samaria and Judea as a Jewish Homeland verses a Palestinian State. The event will be held at the Sixth and I Historic Synagogue located just 2 blocks from the Washington Convention Center at 600 I Street NW in Washington, DC. If you've been waiting to visit the US Capital now's the time to come.

Please forward this information to those you think would be interested in attending any or all of these events ....or those who maybe interested in becoming Super Farmers!

Here is a link to a video about the land and the people we love very much.

Let's not just be Zealous for Zion, but like the God of Israel we serve - Greatly, Fervently, Zealous over Zion. (Zec 8:2)

Help a Young Family Serve in Israel

Some dear friends of ours from PA, Jake and Heather Meyers were here a few weeks ago. During their visit, they were praying and discussing some decisions they were in the midst of making for the direction of their young family. Well, we recently had follow up communication with them and that has all been worked out (in The Spirit), they are now confident that they are called to do whatever it takes to serve in Israel. They are working with other friends of ours, The Wallers, who have founded a small ministry called HaYovel. HaYovel is a service ministry that volunteers to work for farmers in Israel. They spend as long as they can there twice a year volunteering... and are looking for ways to serve even more. Those who work for HaYovel have to pay their own way and give lots of time...and they WORK. If I remember correctly last year Heather and Jake were there for 2 1/2 months for the harvest. I think it has been about 6 years now since HaYovel has been doing this and they have really established relationships down there and people are opening their hearts to them (no small thing in Israel - when it comes to believers in Messiah!). The locals see this group is very different... They see YHVH's Hand in it all and are seeing His LOVE in them.

The Meyers are seeking assistance to cover their financial needs to be able to serve and they are scheduled to leave in 2 months. So they are willing to travel and speak to groups if necessary, to share what they are doing in Israel, in the hopes to bring in that support via prayer and finances that they need to bring this trip to pass. They also desire to spread awareness about what is going on in Israel and the work of this ministry. HaYovel is always looking for more volunteers for this year's harvest. (The harvest is great and the workers are few!)

Heather and Jake are like our brother and sister! We have many friends (who are also family in Yah) who serve with HaYovel as well. I am trying not to think of the announcement that President Obama made today about "America's Position" regarding Israel. It makes my stomach turn and my blood boil. However, I know YHVH is in control and I can rest in His Shalom through it. The fact is, there are risks in serving in Israel in this way, and HaYovel has met some resistance from Palestinians before...but when you are called - you are called! If you are sold out for HIM, you wouldn't dream of ignoring and assignment He has given you! It is worse NOT to go, if you are called to something, than it would be to go and meet with danger. Knowing that in my heart of hearts brings me comfort and keeps me faithful in supporting them in the ways that I can. So please please join me in remembering all these folks in your prayers (especially this fall over the months surrounding Sukkot).

If this ministry is new to you, please check it out. If you can give, please give. If you can pray, please pray. If can go, please go. Either way, you can follow the Meyers' journey with this ministry, as much as they can share, through their new family blog, www.MeyersGoSeek.com . I have a button for them on my side bar, if you would like to share it on your blog (or access it another time).

Blessings and Shalom,

Going To Israel

About a year and a half ago we met this family through some mutual friends.

There whole family came to our aid when we had only lived here for one month and we had only met them once! They live about 3 hours away from us, and with short notice set aside work and plans to serve us. We were so very blessed by them, they truly were an answer to prayer!

This family is zealous for Yah and His ways and spent 6 months living in Israel a few years back. They have longed to return ever since. This is becoming a reality for their two oldest children (Hannah and Thomas) this May. (As they have saved their money for a few years to accomplish this.) They will be serving a family they know for part of the time and exploring the home land together the other part of the time. They are young adults (early-mid 20's) who have stayed in their parents home as they believe in purity and the headship of their father and serving the kingdom with their family as they wait (and prepare) for their Yah appointed spouses to start their own family's.

Thomas and Hannah are going to share their adventure in Israel by blogging about it while they are gone. We will be following them and praying for them, and thought you might like too as well. Here is their blog http://www.hebrewhillbillies.blogspot.com/

Modern Day Holy Land

This was shared with me from a friend last week. I am taking a moment to reflect on modern day Israel, her trials and her place in modern History today. Praying, wondering, praising, wondering, crying, wondering, listening and wondering when Massiah will return to this place and what that will be like......

Watchman on the Walls - Yom Teruah

Ezekial

33:1 The word of YHVH came to me: 2 “Son of man, speak to your people and say to them, If I bring the sword upon a land, and the people of the land take a man from among them, and make him their watchman, 3 and if he sees the sword coming upon the land and blows the trumpet and warns the people, 4 then if anyone who hears the sound of the trumpet does not take warning, and the sword comes and takes him away, his blood shall be upon his own head. 5 He heard the sound of the trumpet and did not take warning; his blood shall be upon himself. But if he had taken warning, he would have saved his life. 6 But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet, so that the people are not warned, and the sword comes and takes any one of them, that person is taken away in his iniquity, but his blood I will require at the watchman's hand.

7 “So you, son of man, I have made a watchman for the house of Israel. Whenever you hear a word from my mouth, you shall give them warning from me. 8 If I say to the wicked, O wicked one, you shall surely die, and you do not speak to warn the wicked to turn from his way, that wicked person shall die in his iniquity, but his blood I will require at your hand. 9 But if you warn the wicked to turn from his way, and he does not turn from his way, that person shall die in his iniquity, but you will have delivered your soul.

Lev 23: 23 And YHVH spake unto Moses, saying,24 Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, in the first day of the month, shall ye have a sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, an holy convocation.25 Ye shall do no servile work therein: but ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto YHVH.

1 Chor 15:52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

Chazaq Yisrael

This is our new favorite picture. This is my 3 month old son, 2 Shabbats ago. We were in a park in KY having Midrash with the Torah Portion with a group of (awsome) folks as we were camping. He was nursing and grabbed hold of my Tzit Tzit. (This has now become a regular thing.) But it gets better: His name is Chazaq Yisrael, which is Hebrew and translates "Be Strong" Israel.

Shabbat Shalom.

Ahavah,
