Welcome to Home Shalom!

Welcome to Home Shalom and Shalom Farm. We pray your visit here be blessed. We are learning to walk in the Ways (Torah) of our Father YHWH and follow Y'shua, His Messiah until He returns to "set things straight". We call it a "Messi-Life". Our walk is neither tidy nor perfect, but it is filled with passion, devotion and desire to serve our King. We are learning to be humble servants, and to be good stewards of the things that He has entrusted to us: His Word, our marriage, our children, our family, our community, our health, and our farm. Hitch your horse and stay a while--our door is always open!

Hebraic (Davidic) Dance

I have had requests for Hebraic Dance Resources. There are some great instructions dance DVD's available  as well as live dance camps that can be found at Messianic Dance Camps which put out the Teach Your Feet Dance DVD Series. Instructors are a married couple,  Ralph and Mindy Seta.  They also host live dance camps and trips to worship in Israel.

Here is a wonderful overview of Biblical Hebraic Dance History, by a lady who's name I do not know. She has a few videos I will be featuring here from her You Tube Channel Rejoice in Dance.

However there are many instructional worship videos that can be accessed for free on You Tube or God Tube.  They will teach specific song or specific steps.  If you like their style, after viewing them here, go to their source location and subscribe to their channel so you can go back to use them again and again.  It is good to first learn the steps with their names.  This will help you greatly when the "names" are called out for the song instructional on other videos or in person at Shabbat or feast gathering.  So lets start there:

This is Shannon Compo she has a You Tube Channel called Shay4Dance

Another great resource is the Key Of David International channel on Your Tube which has a wonderful series of videos that teach one step at a time in each video.  This is done in a very clean and concise way and they give a little traditional history to origin of the steps as well.

There are a few levels of difficulty (Davidic or) Hebraic Dance.  I would encourage you to start with songs with simple step combinations to get the hang of it.  There are dances for everyone though, so I want to show you some of the beginner level low impact dances to start with.  Some songs can become a serious aerobic workouts and get you huffing or make you feel like you have two left feet, if you re not conditioned to dance.  If you jump in with too much to fast, you become discouraged and think you can;t do it - so please know that there are different levels.  Sit out on those more advanced ones and study them - you will get there if you choose too increase your skills and physical endurance - stick to it.

Now, lets talk about choreography.  There are traditional hebrew songs that have very universal steps, that have been handed down and most places will do them the same.  However, you may run into variations.  Especially in newer songs or in Messianic circles.  The reason being is because there are different folks choreographing and different communities will learn dances from different choreographers.  So don't be surprised if you run into this.  You can share differences with friends and once you learn the foundation steps and get comfortable with them, you will get to the point where you can hop into a circle on dances you have never danced or ones that have slightly different choreography and join right in, because the foundation is the same it just the combinations that change.  Most Hebraic dances are done to a 4 count.  Most dances are done in s a circle formation, but there are a few exceptions that are choreographed in lines.  Hebraic dance if doe both men and women.  However some communities have different customs regarding whether men and women dance together in the same circles.  It is wise to take note of what those customs are, if you are joining a new group, before you hop into a circle. :)

Here are a few sample of some beginner dances that came to mind:

This video is one of the first songs I learned by my former dance team, about 10 years ago.  It is still one of my favorites.  This video was taken from Mindy Seta's You Tube Channel and is one of the videos in her DVD series mentioned above.   Unlike the videos I share below by Rejoice in The Dance, she shows the dance first than teaches you how to do it.

Last but no least, here is a great You Tube Channel by some friends of ours.  This was started by a young man in our community.  Sometime you see an imbalance of  more women than men in hebraic dance in our Messianic Circles which is a shame.  Because in our circles, when the men get together it is so powerful and so beautiful - especially when it is all men alone.  They often choose more dances of spiritual warfare and when they do - man, get out of their way and it can get serious - it will make your skin tingle!! We have been blessed to be able to dance together before.  he has lots of good stuff on here- Enjoy!

I will leave you with the last dance video, its one of my all time favorites.  It takes place at some friends' wedding.  This wedding party is dancing in celebration and is comprised of the two families being joined together through this marriage.  All are walking in The Way together.
Ya gotta love love love it!!

I pray this post blesses, equips and encourages you to pursue
this beautiful expression of community worship.

Shalom,

Psalm 119 Tet

We asked a couple of local friends if they would like to help us memorize Psalm 119, by joining us in putting a section of Psalm 119 to a new song.  Although Ben Tzion (Brayden) and Tali are local friends, it is hard to "pin them down" as they are always about The Father's business.  This recording is actually done in Sweden!  They were ministering there and on their way to Israel to help farmers.  They are also in the process of finishing an album they have recorded with others, in putting the Psalms of Accent to Music.  (We got a sneak peak of it..it is fabulous!  I will be sure to let you when/where and how you can get it when it is available.)  Ben Tzion and Tali have a personal family goal  to put ALL of the Psalms to memory and music!! (They have 2 wee ones at the time of this writing, that are not pictured here.)   We are blessed that they made the time to put this section to music for us and are enjoying singing it in our home.  We hope you do too!

Pslam 119 Het

I am so very excited to share this next section of Psalm 119 with you. It is Pslam 119: 57-64, Het.  Some very dear friends of ours (The Kellys) have joined us in our Psalm 119 project.  The Papa doesn't fancy himself as being "musically inclined", however you can see he is a very active father and is behind the scenes, blessing and recording the project. That speaks volumes, even without singing a word!!!  We are so very delighted that they have joined us! I know you will enjoy this as much as we do.

Rest for Your Souls

I am bursting at the seams
to share my new favorite album with ya'll!

A dear online friend has just released a new music album that I wanted to make sure everyone knows about. It is FABULOUS!!! I just know it will bless your home. You can take a peek into her home through her family blog.  They are a homeschooling, home-fellowshipping family with 5 children (some even with special needs). Besides all that she is creative in other areas - photography being one of them.  She is zealous for Torah and Messiah and a loyal wife, momma, and friend. Yet with an obviously full plate, this momma (along with two friends) has released this high quality album to share praise, worship and truth with THE WORLD. (Did I mention they live in Australia?)

There are songs to sing at Passover, The Feast of Unleavened Bread, The Feast of FirstFruits, Feast of Trumpets and also on Shabbat. There's also a song which explains how we, who are not naturally born of Israel, have been grafted in with Scriptures spoken in the middle of the song. Our family has been singing and sharing their "Shabbat Song" for over a year now, before they even started putting the album together. :-)  I have been anxiously waiting for the album and now it is here and it is GOOD!

The idea of this album is that it can be used in a family to teach children, it can be used in congregations to sing praise together at appointed times or it can be used for individuals to be able to worship Yah with all their hearts. This is their single desire and hope; that it will draw many closer to Yah. If you are interested, her band is called 'Feet on a Rock' (taken from Psalm 40) and their first album is called Rest for your Souls'. You can sample and/or purchase the songs/album here: http://itunes.apple.com/au/album/rest-for-your-souls/id555152633?ig...

Pass it on!  :-)

What Does the Bible Say about Dance?

(See more gorgeous paintings like this at Art of the Covenant!!!)

Have you ever taken the time to see what the Bible Says about dancing?  I have a friend (Kyle) who did, he shared a very interesting thing that He found in the Hebrew Scriptures about dance, that was not accurately translated in our English versions in his article at New Heights Dance.

I find it very interesting that some Christian religions "outlaw" dancing not only in their meetings, but also in their lifestyles!  This practice is far from what The Bible illustrates!!    Now, I do understand the concern for inappropriate dance and even dance used for evil - that too is real.  It is very important for us to distinguish and the difference...like everything in this life...right??!!!  (Kyle will be touching on that in Part 2 of his post, so be sure to check that out too!)  However, to turn away from rejoicing and worshiping in this way, because of what 'the twisted ones' have done....well...it robs His people of what is rightfully theirs!  (That is, to go before The Father and worship him in unity, freedom and rejoicing with their whole being!!)  It seems to me to be just another one of those nasty lies that has snuck its way into some Christian RELIGIONS.

SO instead - rejoice and be glad!  Dance before your King like David danced - with passion and full admiration getting lost in His goodness, truth,  mercy and grace!

Shabbat Shalom,

Kulanu K'echad - All of us as One

Shabbat Shalom Mishpakhote! (Families)

This week I found myself in prayer for YOU while in worship to this song. Yah burdened me for your struggles and made me weep for you. I cried out for you in love and sympathy and in understanding. Then..... it was as if the clouds were cleared and the warmth of His ahava (love) dried up the tears and brought comfort, warmth, security and promise. He made me rejoice in His truth for us all. He reminded me how beautiful His plan for Shabbat (Sabbath) is - that on this day above all other days, we come together as Echued (ONE - unified) in Him. That no matter the storms that we WILL encounter (be they long or short) that He WILL bring us comfort, and provision. His promises stand the test of ALL trials! So lets rejoice together in Him - this Shabbat, every Shabbat and every day...as we live lives of worship together- no matter where we are on this earth!

Song by Ted Pearce
Lyrics:

Kulanu k'echad,
All of us as one

We've come together as One
We've come together in the name of Your Son
And with grateful hearts for all You have done
We come.... and let all who are thirsty come

Come glorify Yeshua, O come magnify the Lamb of God
O Come glorify Yeshua, and let all who are thirsty come!

Father the hour has come
For all the earth to glorify Your Son
And to be sanctified in truth, that we may be as One
And let all who are thirsty come

Much Love,

p.s. In the hopes not to confuse some folks who may be new to the Appointed Times of YHVH (God), Shavout is the 4th/middle feast, which happens 50 days after the day of First Fruits. It usually falls in June. This video just happened to be the best video/dance I found for the song in which Yah met me in prayer this week. :-) These folks used if for their Shavout celebration. :-)

Betroth You to Me

This is one of my most favorite artists and my favorite song. It's one of those songs, I get lost in - in worship and sing at the top of my lungs and start swaying, dancing and spin too..You know.... the kind of song you end up embarressing yourself with, if anyone else walks into the room! :-) So join me and blast it! :-)

Shabbat Shalom!

Bridegroom Songs - Betrothal

Here is a little sound track for your enjoyment - as a part of our betrothal series. These songs were written and sung by Braden and Talitha Waller in their betrothal period. They wanted to share and show the parrallel between being the Bride (and Betrothed) of Yeshua while in the process of their own betrothal and marriage. We were so blessed by it. It is still one of our favorite "albums" my kids belt out every word with great passion ( it is the cutest thing to see!).

I pray it blesses you as well! Enjoy.
